Plug in and fly…

Announced June 16, passengers who fly with United Airlines will be able to use their iPods and iPhones to connect to its in-flight entertainment system. This means each passenger will be able to view their content on a 15.4 in personal television. Not only will you be able to view/listen to what you currently have on your iPods, the connection will also charge both devices.

This technology comes to United via the Panasonic Avionics Corporation. United states that:

The customized video and audio options complements the more that 150 hours of movies and television shows available on-demand on United’s newly-configured international aircraft, as well as games and XM radio.

According to the press release the first plane with the connectivity will fly primarily on trans-Atlantic routes. International first and business class travelers can expect to see the upgrade in the entire fleet over the next two years.
